Background
To support the launch of the brand in America and reinforce the brand’s positioning and generate sales online Brandammo were commissioned to design, build and promote a UK/Europe and US brand and e-commerce website for famous sports and games manufacturer Jaques of London.
The Brief
Established over 210 years ago in 1795, Jaques of London is the oldest sports and games manufacturer in the world. Currently owned and managed by direct descendents of founder Thomas Jaques (b.1765), the Jaques family today remain true to their ancestors’ commitment to quality and traditional methods of craftsmanship, which have ensured their success over the years. It was this attention to detail along with their long and distinguished history that Jaques wanted to focus on throughout their brand and product marketing – both on and offline. As part of our ongoing work with Jaques BRANDAMMO were commissioned by Jaques to design, develop and launch a brand and e-commerce website that would promote the brand and offer products for sale direct from Jaques both in the UK and US.
Deliverables
A fully content managed dynamically driven website featuring a range of interactive features and online store. Additional online support services provided include Search Engine optimisation (SEO), hosting, analytics and email set-up.
Outcome
Having now launched both the US and UK online stores Jaques are experiencing increasing sales and increased publicity on both sides of the Atlantic. As a result the services of BRANDAMMO have been retained by Jaques to continue site development and provide creative support both on and offline in the future.
Concept Creation
Since being established in 1795 Jaques have produced a wide range of family games – many of which we discovered featured beautiful hand drawn illustrations and design details. It was these vintage designs that inspired us at Brandammo to create an eclectic design style of vintage textures design elements and imagery that would be used throughout their brand communications both on and offline. From our initial introduction to the brand it was their long and distinguished history that first captured our imagination and we know that was this aspect of the company that had the potential to add serious value to the brand. We knew, therefore, that every aspect of the site had to be designed with this in mind.
Design Development
Using an eclectic mix of design styles, illustrations, photography and design techniques it was the aim of our design team to create a uniquely Jaques website that would communicate the brand values on every page. The traditional design was contrasted with the use of flash ad a range of other new technologies that made the site both user-friendly and entertaining. The incorporation of AMMOBOX, our own custom developed Content Management System (CMS) throughout the site enabled virtually any aspect of the site to be quickly and easily updated either by non-technical site administrators at Jaques or by us at BRANDAMMO.
